The story of Ruth, in Christianity and Judaism history, is a story of restoration. Ruth went through a season where she lost all that was dear to her. Her husband had died and famine hit her homeland. Ruth was left destitute. Despite the tragedy she experienced, Ruth vowed to remain loyal to her mother-in-law, who had also lost everything.
Ruth traveled to her mother-in-law's native land. It was new territory for her. New people. New customs. New laws. Ruth remained loyal to her vow. She would care for her mother-in-law. Day in and day out, she went out looking for provision for her and her mother-in-law. Word begin to spread of her integrity and character. Ruth captured the attention of the wealthy Boaz. Following the advice of her mother-in-law, Ruth soon captured his heart.
The union of Ruth and Boaz, not only restored Ruth but it also restored Ruth's mother-in-law. It restored Ruth's mother-in-law's faith and hope in God's promises for her life. Ruth's vow was completed. Ruth kept believing, kept moving forward. She never gave up hope or faith. She held on to the promise that things would be better, not only for herself but also for others.
